November 22rd – 25th  Seminar by Master Yaguchi

Notice to Dojo Leaders: please read, new information

Seminar Flyer and Registration Form

Enclosed is the information and forms for the November visit of Master Yaguchi.

Please post the seminar flyer on your dojo bulletin board.  Please encourage your members to attend. The fees collected go directly to supporting the Master’s visits and a large turnout is essential for the continuance of these visits.  Seminar fee is $50 for all seminars, $25 for the second family member and $15 for each additional family member. Out of town attendees receive a $10 discount (one per family). Anyone attending only one session is $25.

Dojo Leaders

We continue to get collections of odd papers with names scribbled on them. Some of the lists do not even have the club identified. Please assist us with seminar registration by completing the enclosed Clinic Registration Form.  Make copies as required.  Help simplify registration by having your students pay their seminar fees to YOU.  You’ll then supply us one cheque for everyone from your dojo that is attending the clinic.(seminar only)

Kyu Seminar

The only Black Belts permitted to attend Kyu sessions will be Registered Instructor Trainees, and dojo instructors. They are asked to position themselves within the Kyu ranks to assist the attendees and provide modeling of the demonstrated techniques. Your co-operation in reminding your black belt members is appreciated.

Kyu Examinations

DOJO INSTRUCTORS – PLEASE NOTE –

Kyu examinations will not take place at Masters Seminars. Masters Seminars are for instruction and Dan exams only.

All Kyu exams will be coordinated through Sensei Dixon

All Dan exams will be conducted by Sensei Okazaki and Sensei Yaguchi during seminars only.

This is to maintain all Black Belts at a provincial level or greater.

Dan Examinations

Dan examinations will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, Nov. 24th at Port Moody Dojo. There are no facilities to assemble last minute applications, so candidates must ensure the items on the list below are complete prior to the session.

Dan candidates must:

1.       Ensure they have paid their annual ISKF membership fee.

2.       Provide their club buff-coloured Grading Cards (or facsimile) prior to Saturdays Seminars.

3.       Complete the Request for “Dan” Registration form. Note: Blank Request for “Dan” Registration forms are available from your Dojo leader, no other forms will necessarily be accepted.

4.       Attach three (3) black and white passport photos to the form - preferably in a very small envelope. The candidate's name should be written on the back of the photos. Please no staples.

5.       Attach a separate examination fee cheque. This is not refundable if the exam is taken.

       Examination Fees: Shodan - $95; Nidan - $120; Sandan - $145; Yondan - $180; Godan - $240.

6.       Attach a separate Registration fee cheque. This cheque will be returned if exam not successful.

7.       Dan Registration Fees: Shodan - $110; Nidan - $145; Sandan - $195; Yondan - $260; Godan - $320.

8.       (Separate from Examination Fee).

9.      Make all cheques payable to (ISKF).

10.    People testing for black belts are required to fight in ju-kumite. Ensure you have fist protectors and mouth guards handy for the Kumite section of the grading.  The exception to this is if you are over 50 and wish to demonstrate self-defense in lieu of kumite.

11.    On completion of the examination, it is the responsibility of the dojo leaders (or designate), to collect the buff coloured Grading Cards for their students.

12.    If the examinee is successful, the dojo leader will then receive a copy of the Request for “Dan” Registration forms for their records.

13.    Remember that we require separate cheques for registration and examination. The cancelled cheque will let you know that the registration has been processed.

14.    All Dan applications and accompanying grading cards must be given to Sensei Joe Dixon. The Association will not be responsible for missing documentation that is not delivered directly to Sensei Dixon.

15.    Dan registrations must be in within 6 months of examination or a re-exam may be required.

Instructor Trainee Seminar (ISKF only)

This seminar is for Registered Instructor Trainees only. All Instructor trainees are to send Sensei Dixon a photocopy or e-mail a list of their practical forms so a class can be selected.

2006 ISKF Membership

Please ensure that all examinees have paid their 2006 individual ISKF membership fees. Members not in good standing or late exam registrants will not be permitted to take an exam. Also, please inform all Dan examinees, that they must attend at least one seminar class.

Please return the completed seminar registration forms and fees to the Secretary at the first seminar. Make all cheques (including those for Dan testing and Registration) payable to: “Japan Karate Association of BC (ISKF)”

As always, if you have any questions please call me at (604) 469-3090, e-mail (jkabc@telus.net), or write to JKA-BC.

Dojo Leaders – please read and pass on to your students

1.       Please give a copy of the above list to any Dan examinees, or their parents if minors. Failure to comply with the above list could result in not testing.

2.       All juniors taking Dan rankings must have a parent or legal guardian present at the examination. If no parent or legal guardian is present the junior will not be allowed to test.

This is for ISKF members only

3.       Special Kyu grading notice – Adults living within the area that Masters seminars are taking place will be required to attend the seminar as a requirement for grading. Only those with special permission from their Sensei will be excused. If people grading prior to the seminars don’t attend, then future gradings will be after the Masters seminars. People within the lower mainland have an advantage over those in the interior and Islands, with this advantage comes a responsibility to the organization. Thank you.
